Holiday Spirit Poems

As a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellow on an inpatient unit over the holiday season, I wrote these pieces to capture the quiet ironies, fleeting joys, and subtle rhythms of life in the unit.

Holiday dose

Serotonin is in the air,

Spreading joy everywhere.

Patients are starting to disappear,

It looks like Christmas is here.

Before Holidays

The unit is humming a different tune.

It sounds like patients don’t need Risperidone.

Holidays are approaching soon-

Time for chocolate truffles and scones.
