Celebration

A celebration, a moment so grand,

He strolls to the podium, in command,

His dazzling smile, radiant as the sun.

What a wondrous sight, in this joyful land,

A celebration, a moment so grand,

Inaudible words of triumph soared.

Weariness in his eyes, a once-mighty man,

Now a feeble frame, consumed and wan,

His words, like whispers, in the evening spun.

Joyful moments we shared, oh so grand,

Yet sadness grips me, urging a reprimand,

A celebration, a moment profound.

With time, life fades, like grains of sand,

Wishing for the past, where memories expand,

If only we could celebrate much more.

A celebration, a moment so grand,

He fades slowly, I wish I’d understand.

His dazzling smile, as radiant as the sun

A poem about a friend and their battle against addiction.
