Never-ending Residency
You’re still here.
The world you learn.
It started long ago.
Maybe at first sight of a cell
under the microscope.
Maybe before that.
Deep to the embryo.
You had sacrificed to know.
How the brain intertwines into a mind.
How the lungs unveil a sponge
to all the breath of now.
Ultimately, it wasn’t in the textbook.
It was unmasked in front of you.
And you saw. And still see.
Here. Deep
underneath that framed facsimile
on the hollow wall.
The degree is within your skin.
It resides in your soul.
