The Tightrope

Two souls I hold within my care—
A stranger’s pain, my own son’s stare.
A healer’s hands, a mother’s heart,
Each tugging me a world apart.

It’s an impossible choice to face:
To leave a loved one’s warm embrace,
And step into another’s pain,
While hiding tears like falling rain.

My family waits in someone’s care,
While I bring comfort, standing there.
A quiet strength, a steady grace—
But sorrow lives behind the face.

So when you see that calm disguise,
Look closer—see the weary eyes.
For every act of love you view,
There’s sacrifice you never knew.
