Amparo Pikarsky is a representational portrait artist who works primarily in oils and seeks to capture not only a likeness of my subjects but to give a glimpse into what they think and feel, whether experiencing significant events or going about their daily business.
“Waiting for the Results” is a portrait of her husband right after undergoing brain surgery in July of 2021. A benign mass “the size of a peach” was resected; thankfully, he has fully recovered.
The picture was painted in oil on linen panel, following academic painting techniques.
I came across this “visual arts”…. section on this website while searching for some such paintings on Google….. As holding this oil painting conveys what is a perfect work of art, the condition of a patient after a difficult brain surgery can be conjured upon viewing this painting.
Thank you so much, Dr. Felix!
This artwork says so many things about what one has to go through after surgery. I feel like a storm passed through this man and still waiting to see the light of hope. The feeling is so strong and it seems a story has been written with every stroke of the brush. It’s really beautiful. Hat’s off to the artists.
Thank you so much, Dr. Lee! Jeff did go through a tough time; at this point, we didn’t even know if the growth had been malignant, benign, or completely resected. God bless his surgeon for the skill with which he brought Jeff back to life.
