We are pleased to announce our winter poetry contest (January 15- March 15). The winner will receive a $200 Amazon gift card. The 1st and 2nd runners up will have their poems published on www.medmic.com for 6months and receive commentary from the contest judges.

The contest will be judged by Dr. Tyler Mills PhD and Ms. Jane Newkirk (Occupational Therapist). Ms. Mills’s latest books are The City Scattered (Tupelo Press, 2022) and, as coauthor with Kendra DeColo, Low Budget Movie (Diode Editions, 2021). She teaches for Sarah Lawrence College’s Writing Institute and lives in Brooklyn. Ms. Newkirk has worked as a cook, bread baker, stained glass artist, and art gallery owner. She currently works as an occupational therapist in a long-term acute care hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Previous publication includes her creative nonfiction piece “The Language of Bread,” nominated for the 2020 Pushcart Prize.

Please send 1-2 poems to submissions@medmic.com along with a short biography (2 sentences max). Poems can belong to any genre (free form, rhyming, sonnets, haiku, etc) We encourage poets to send poems that relate to wellness or healthcare, but this is not absolutely mandatory.
